When the decision is about technology.
You know what you're trying to decide: what to build, what AI to adopt, how to structure the product, or how to introduce it, but the human system around the technology makes the answer more complicated.
I help organisations make decisions about products and AI that work in practice for the people they affect, by bringing together product strategy, technology, human behaviour and systems thinking.
You might come to me when…
You're growing quickly, product decisions are becoming a bottleneck, or you need experienced product leadership without a full-time hire.
Everyone has ideas, but priorities are unclear and you need a strategy the leadership team and product organisation can actually align around.
The conversation is dominated by tools and possibilities, and you need to connect AI opportunities back to actual organisational goals and the people it will affect.
Teams are adopting it unevenly, workflows are changing, or you're encountering questions around trust, governance, decision rights and ways of working.
Sometimes the outcome is shaped by more than the technology. It's shaped by the interaction between technology, behaviour, organisational structures, incentives and context.
Make clear product decisions and build the capability to execute them.
I help organisations clarify product strategy, prioritise opportunities, strengthen product decision-making and, where needed, provide senior product leadership.
Product strategy, prioritisation, product operating models, team leadership and fractional product leadership.
Identify where AI creates genuine value, and build the conditions for it to work.
I help organisations move beyond experimentation to understand where AI fits their strategy, how it will change the way people work, and what needs to happen for adoption to succeed.
AI opportunity assessment, strategy, adoption planning, organisational readiness and responsible implementation.
What happens when technology meets a human system?
Sometimes the outcome is shaped by more than the technology, including the interaction between the product, people's behaviour, organisational structures, incentives and context. I help organisations understand those interactions and identify where they can intervene.
Technology is changing behaviour, workflows or decision-making in ways you didn't anticipate.
A product arrives inside a human system that was already working a certain way, with its own incentives, workflows, norms and power structures. That's how technology can end up working exactly as designed while the system around it produces something very different from what was intended.
I start by looking at how the technology and the system around it will shape each other, and what that means for the people using it, the organisation adopting it, and the outcomes it's intended to produce.
The question I'm interested in is:
What happens when what you've created meets the system around it?
Understand what you're trying to achieve before deciding what to build or adopt.
Consider the people, incentives, structures and context around the technology.
Focus on the points where you can meaningfully influence the outcome.
Turn insight into decisions, interventions or experiments.
I typically work with leaders and executives making an important technology decision, whether that's what to build, what AI to adopt or how to structure a product function.
Engagements can range from a focused strategy review or workshop to ongoing advisory or fractional product leadership, depending on what the decision needs.
I've spent my career making consequential decisions at the intersection of technology, product and human behaviour.
At Riot Games, I led product strategy for Behavioural Systems for League of Legends, working at a scale of 140M+ monthly users.
I've led product managers and cross-functional teams, including through other leaders across 40+ people. My work draws on behavioural science, systems thinking, product design, data, AI/ML and experimentation.
My particular strength is entering complex, unfamiliar problems quickly, understanding the forces at play, and turning that understanding into practical decisions.
"Hana came in when LUMOS had no dedicated product discipline. She grasped our vision and current state remarkably quickly, delivered a full playbook of priorities, timelines and concrete plans, then supported our Product Lead hire end-to-end. Efficient, perceptive and a real pleasure to work with."Cynthia Rahardja — Co-founder & COO at LUMOS
If you're making an important product or AI decision and need to understand how it will work within the human system around it, I'd be interested in hearing what you're working through.
